Para Yelken Mersin Marina’da Rüzgârla Buluştu

Serving as a city marina since 2011, Mersin Marina brought para sailing together with Mersin’s wind throughout September and October. Concluding its calendar with the para sailing races of the Mersin 2025 World Ability Beach Games, the marina once again showcased the unifying power of sports to the world.

Within the scope of the 2025 Turkish Sailing Federation (TYF) Activity Program, Mersin Marina hosted the Para Sailing Development Camps between 15–17 and 22–24 September, which included theoretical training sessions on land and practical and tactical exercises at sea. These camps were followed by the 2025 TYF Para Sailing Turkish Championship, held between 8–11 October, where 17 sailors from 5 clubs created a colorful sailing spectacle.

Following the championship, the newly announced national para sailing team represented Türkiye at the para sailing competitions of the Mersin 2025 World Ability Beach Games, held between 18–25 October. The Games gathered more than 600 participants — including around 400 athletes from 26 countries across 5 continents — in various venues throughout Mersin. Starting from Mersin Marina, 18 sailors from 9 countries competed for four days, embracing the winds of the Mediterranean.

At the end of the 2025 World Ability Beach Games, our national athlete Büşra Nur Çelik won the gold medal in the women’s category, while Miray Ulaş proudly claimed the silver medal. From Mersin Marina to the Mediterranean, the spirit of para sailing — and the unifying power of sport — spread from Mersin to the entire world once again.
